The Football Factory

What a killer picture.

I occasionally have a dig around ye ol' DVD collection and pull out a classic. The other night it was Nick Love's 'The Football Factory' [second half was picked up the next morning as I felt super tired]. Classic. One of Danny Dyer's best performances, and full of memorable scenes + script that you'll wanna quote forever. [See: Billy bright and the lads having a drink in the Stoke pub]

Yeah OK, some of the fonts and stuff used are a bit.....shitly designed but that's all part of the fun, ain't it! Also, as mentioned some of the scenes are mad crazzzzzy, and sooo hilarious. It's rawness and grittiness is one of the things I like about it. Not to mention for weeks after watching it I resort to the words 'mug' and 'c*nt' [what a filthy word!] when trying to express anger.

One of me favourite quotes:

"Are you tryna mug me off in front of my pals?" - Billy Bright to Zebedee

Anyway, not a film review...just a reminder of what a great film this is. However one my favourite films ever directed by Nick Love is 'The Business'. Absolute classic! Actually, I think I'll put that one out later. [should have saved this post for that film!]

S. Darko Official Trailer

Now I was hoping that this was a spoof [sort of], but the prediction is becoming a reality [see my previous post ]....this flick is 'en route' to becoming a pile of unnecessary crap. I don't really want to go on moan about it too much, just thought I'd post it so you could have a looksie yourself.

This should just go straight to DVD, yeah. Or better yet. Cancelled . Lol.

The Wrestler

This film had me sold on the poster. The rawness, colour and simplicity of the design is just amazing. Last night I attempted to see Seven Pounds, but because I was running on filipino time I arrived just in time to watch the Wrestler. Mickey Rourke is purely sick for this one. Acting was on point - furthermore, everything was on point. I liked loved it.

It was one of them ones that had everything. It was tragic, funny, glory [sort of], ok not everything but I'm definitely feeling this one. The story is on point, the edits were nice, and the right music was played at the right time. I particularly liked the way it ended. You know..... why it ended the way it did - and how; meaning the shots and all that. I'm not gonna go into it 'cos I don't want to spoil it, but it was the one.

I'm a big fan of indie films, and The Wrestler is definitely up there.

Aronofsky. "You crazy for this one!"

S. Darko

Came across this as I was browsing IMDB(as you do). Reading news that the sequel to Donnie Darko was currently in production initially got me a bit hyped... but then I woke up, smelt the coffee and realised this is a big NO NO! 'DD' was the one! It filled me with joy, wonder and awe; it even managed to reach my top 10 favourite movies [still unsorted].

However, the impact of the cult phenomenon that is Donnie Darko cannot be replicated in a sequel, and I can almost guarantee it won't come close. Infact, I do. Not to mention the fact that director Richard Kelly isn't even involved with the sequel. It's a bit harsh but DD is a masterpiece by itself, it needs no sequel or prequel. Just leave it alone! S. Darko will probably tarnish the concept of DD for me, so as for watching that ish - I'm not too sure.
